Assos Mille GT Shell S11 EVO Winter Jacket

Wet weather is simply part and parcel of biking, whatever the season. With this in mind, Assos continues to develop the Mille GT Shell S11 EVO, and deliberately keeps the construction simple: breathable, water-repellent, windproof and stretchy enough to give you full freedom of movement. The main material is HURRICANE fabric, a proven barrier against wind and rain, complemented at the cuffs by ultra-stretchy AVANTGARDE inserts that create a watertight seal around your wrists or over your gloves.

In summer, you can simply tuck it into a back pocket and quickly pull it out for protection on a long, cool descent or in a sudden rainstorm. In spring and autumn, you can wear it over a jersey from the same GT layering range, and in winter you can wear it over your winter jacket as the final barrier against wet, cold conditions.

HURRICANE fabric
This is the main material of the Assos Mille GT Shell S11 EVO, and a tried-and-tested barrier against wind and rain. The fabric is windproof and water-repellent, yet breathable enough to prevent a stuffy, damp microclimate.

AVANTGARDE cuffs
At the wrists, the fabric is reinforced with ultra-elastic AVANTGARDE inserts that fit snugly but comfortably around your wrists. They also work well in combination with gloves, ensuring that no wind or water can seep in.

Is the Mille GT Shell S11 EVO waterproof?
Thanks to the HURRICANE fabric, the jacket is water-repellent and windproof, and has waterproof, sealed cuffs. In light to moderate rainfall, you will stay dry, but in prolonged, heavy rainfall complete waterproofing cannot be guaranteed.

What is the difference between the Mille GT Shell S11 EVO and the Mille GT Winter S11 jacket?
The Shell S11 EVO is a lightweight, versatile outer layer that you can use all year round as protection in summer rainshowers, an extra layer over your winter jacket, etcetera. The Mille GT Winter S11 is a fully insulated winter jacket, designed to keep you warm on its own in the cold.

Can I wear this jacket all year round?
Yes, that is exactly the idea. In summer, you can tuck it into a back pocket and quickly put it on for a chilly descent or a sudden rainshower; in the transitional seasons, you can wear it over a loose-fitting jersey; and in winter, it can serve as the outer layer over your winter jacket.

Does this jacket provide sufficient protection when I'm sweating profusely and cooling down rapidly?
The Mille GT Shell S11 EVO is primarily designed to provide protection against wind and rain, and less so for insulation. If you cool down quickly after intense sweating, we recommend combining it with a thermal layer (e.g. made of merino wool) underneath for sufficient warmth.

How do the cuffs work with gloves?
The ultra-elastic AVANTGARDE cuffs are designed to form a watertight seal around your wrists, both with and without gloves on, preventing wind or water from entering through the sleeves.
